Last day in Madrid

Sadly it's our last day in Madrid.  We decided to keep the room on all day, which was a good decision.

We made it to the art gallery this morning.  It had some brilliant Picasso including Guernika, loads of post impressionists, and some Dali.  That man was completely bonkers.but I suppose it worked as I came away wanting to know more about him and his works, they were stunning, but verrry strange.

There was also some works by Torres, a Spanish painter.  We had seen  quite a few of his paintings in Malaga last year.  As usual with modern art I am usually left cold with it, and then suddenly one just astounds me.  There were a few here, the rest were a bit strange.  More my thing was the sculptures, just brilliant.

We strolled back along The Ramblas, wandered off down a side street and discovered the wonderful area of Law Lantina.  And on our last day.  They have a tradition of Vermouth bars, were you can get it on tap. HIC !

The weather wasn't quite so bright today, and it didn't warm up, so we had to stop for cover and cake before going back to the hotel to pack.  We said goodbye to the hotel San Martin and headed to the airport for a midnight flight.
