We were up early and breakfasted by 9am ready to head into town to the bus station and catch thebus to the Argentinian Falls. The sky looked iffy but we took a chance and headed off. Fifty yards down the road the heavens opened and by the time we made it back to the hotel, the water was running passed our ankles and we were drenched.
So instead we sat on our balcony and watched the storm rage around us. Vertical stair rod rain, thunder crashes and lightening. It was quite spectacular, but did go in for four hours which got a bit tedious after a while. Then the wind got up and we had to huddle indoors.
At least I had plenty of time to get back to my blog, although the wifi isn’t strong at least it’s here.

Puerto Iguazu is a funny place and only exists really for seeing the falls. It’s a real mix of some nice housing and complete shanty homes. The streets are a mix of rough tarmac, and ours, red mud and large crushed rocks, which are difficult to walk on. Then there are the pavements which are lethal, I really don’t know how anyone with walking difficulties would cope. You have to watch every step, as the tiles are all skewy and full of holes.
That’s why didn’t venture further when it rained as everywhere was really slippy.
It finally stopped raining about 2pm and we ventured into town, which isn’t very big. All was closed as they have siesta, well actually the place seems permanetly in sieta. But we found a coffe shop and had some lunch.
Then we found the bank. Unfortunately our hotel doesn’t take credit cards at all, so we will have to come down to the bank every day for money. Also there is a limit on how much you can take out each day, which isn’t very high.
Rod decided that he wanted to have dinner at a Parradilla, a restaurant that sells various meat bits, and I mean bits. We headed off to a recommendation, but found it heaving and full of tourists. Walking back into town we spotted another one, this time full of locals. It was more of an Asado, or BBQ, so Rod had beef ribs and I had chicken with salad.. delicious.
The heavens opened again while we were in the restaurant, but luckily stopped for a while to let us walk home. I had red feet by the time I got back, I kept stepping on loose tiles, which sent a shot of muddy water up my legs.. yuk!
